Blair Blakeney

My name is Blair Blakeney and I’m excited to announce that I’m the Academic Activities Commissioner of SCOPE for the upcoming academic year.

I am a 20-year-old Bermudian & British national. I was born in London, but I’ve grown up on a small island country called Bermuda. My board year will be sandwiched between the second and third year of my bachelors’ study at SBE in International Business. I’m honoured to be next year’s Academic Activities Commissioner of SCOPE Maastricht.

I began attending SCOPE events regularly in the beginning of this past academic year, my first being the London trip in Autumn, since then my passion for SCOPE has increased with every interaction. I’ve found the association to have a strong community that is actively contributing to students lives both socially and to help give them a leg up for the future through our academic offerings and career opportunities. This led me to join as an active member of SCOPE in February on the London Trip Committee. Further, the association has already contributed enough in this short time to my student life that I was motivated to apply for this board position when the opportunity presented itself as a way to give back to the association and have a meaningful impact on the lives of other students.

Our team is very dedicated and hardworking. I’m confident we’ll have a very successful year, even as we continuously adapt to the conditions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

I aim to provide students with a diverse set of opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills whilst also increasing their desire to continuously learn by ensuring these events are interesting and engaging. I’m grateful for the work of previous boards and I’m proud to be part of the team that will maintain and develop SCOPE in a way that benefits all of our stakeholders, not only for this year but to have a lasting impact on the future of our association.

Warm regards,

Blair Blakeney
