My name is Julia Steijn and I am 19 years old. I was born in Rotterdam, but grew up in Venlo. I already knew at a young age that I wanted my future to take place in an international environment. In order to prepare myself for this, I chose to go to the only high school in the region that offered bilingual degrees. After obtaining my diploma, I moved to Maastricht to start studying International Business. The city’s international environment and the study’s job prospects were the factors that influenced my study choice most.
I spend most of my free time with my friends, many of whom I met at SCOPE. Whenever I am not in Maastricht, I am most likely at home with my family or traveling abroad. Furthermore, I enjoy learning new things, which is what makes me very motivated to study. However, learning is not only initiated by studying, but also by doing. This is why I became an active member of SCOPE as soon as I started my studies in Maastricht. I immediately felt home in SCOPE, and this feeling created a new aspiration: becoming a board-member.
The aspiration of being a part of SCOPE’s board quickly became reality, as now I am able to announce with pride and happiness that I have been chosen to fulfill the role of SCOPE’s 2019-2020 Treasurer. I am convinced that the coming year will be of critical influence on my future, and I could not be more excited about what is to come. I am very happy that I have been presented with the opportunity to continue to build on the amazing foundation which last year’s board has laid for SCOPE during the past year, together with the rest of the team. I would love to extend the association even further over the SBE and be part of every student’s life, because I believe that SCOPE has a lot of additional value to offer, whether it is career value, academic value or social value.
