My name is Martijn Balder, I am 21 years old and the current Treasurer of SCOPE. I successfully completed the first two years of my International Business studies and want to finalise my studies with a quantitative major after the board year.
For me, there are two salient reasons that triggered my interest SCOPE. First, I am fully convinced of what SCOPE as an organisation represents, namely enhancing our time as a student. Not only offers SCOPE opportunities to bridge the gap between student and work life but also provides education on up-to-date matters and social events. Second, I believe that SCOPE is a great platform to develop yourself and become acquainted with like-minded people, that want more from university than just studying.
In the second year after the SCOPE merger, I want to build up onto the work of the previous board. Last year, the focus regarding SCOPE’s finances was on correcting the financials of the individual organisations before the merger. I am confident that with correct financial statements, which SCOPE has available now, we will be able to make better financial decisions and can shift our attention to improving the efficiency of SCOPE’s financial processes. Furthermore, I want to provide every SCOPE event with an equitable budget, therewith the quality on the highest possible level is and thus, the most value for students added. Lastly, I want to extensively reinvest profits from events into SCOPE’s member base, especially active members, as they represent SCOPE’s most important asset.
