My name is Mathieu Goossens, I am 20 years old and just finished my second year of Economics and Business Economics. I am honored to have been chosen as treasurer for the upcoming academic year.
I was born in Haarlem and spent the first years of my life there until my parents decided to move to the beautiful south. The secondary school I attended offered bilingual education and was internationally orientated. Here I didn’t only improve my English skills but also learned a lot about different countries and cultures. Going on to study in Maastricht was therefore a natural decision for me.
In the autumn of 2019 I joined when I became a member of the seminars committee. When I joined SCOPE I didn’t consider applying for a board year straight away. However, after getting to know the organization and its members better I decided I wanted to become a member of SCOPE’s board. What I like most about SCOPE besides all the activities it offers is the atmosphere and of course the amazing actives themselves!
In my free time I like to hang out with friends or do some exercising. My further hobbies include travelling and tennis.
For the upcoming year, I am looking forward to learning more about the tasks I will perform as treasurer, but also gaining further insights in my personal strengths and weaknesses. Focusing on next year in particular, I believe the association will face an unpredictable year just like all other organizations. My job will be to ensure the financial stability of the organization will be maintained as it has been done in recent years.
