Spring Cantus 2026
Pencils down. Semester's (almost) over. Time to do what SCOPE does best — gather everyone in one room, open the songbooks, and sing like nobody's watching (they are).
The Spring Cantus is our annual evening of cantus classics, questionable harmonies, and the kind of camaraderie that only comes from belting old songs shoulder to shoulder with 100+ of your favourite people. First timer or seasoned veteran, it doesn't matter — by the end of the night you'll know every word anyway.
What's a cantus? A cantus is a traditional student singing evening rooted in Dutch and Belgian university culture. Everyone sits together at long tables, a Praesidium leads the evening with an iron fist and a gavel, and the room sings its way through a songbook of classics — old Latin hymns, pop songs, drinking songs, and everything in between. There are rules. There are toasts. There are consequences for breaking either. It's structured chaos, and it's one of the best things student life has to offer.
See you at D'n Himmel. Don't be late. The songs won't wait for you.
