On October 29, SCOPE's annual Frankfurt Banking Tour. In 5 days, a group of 25 students had the chance to visit 7 companies and attend an Alumni event in Germany's most active financial hub.
After a smooth bus ride and some time to settle in our hotel rooms and change for the first activity of the week: the alumni evening . We with around 60 former Maastricht University students around some drinks and snacks. Thanks to a card game, students and alumnis had to form small groups and exchange about their memories in Maastricht and how our small city has changed since they left for new horizons.
The next morning, the FBT group started with the first visits. In the morning we assisted with an interactive presentation from Credit Agricole - Corporate and Investment Banking (CA-CIB) followed by a lunch with some of their employees. We then headed to Hauck & Aufhäuser for a case study on private debt financing where we got split into different groups. After the challenging workshop, the company took us for dinner in a small and warm restaurant nearby.
The next morning also started with a case study at ING-DiBa where the winning team received the classical Dutch water bottle: the Dopper. After the lunch, we then headed to the William Blair building, a M&A boutique. With a presentation and a case, we left their tower around 8.30 pm for a well deserved dinner and evening activity provided by the company where we got the chance to experience the social lifestyle of an investment banker.
The Friday morning, we received insights about the functioning of a rating agency: S&P Global . For lunch time, they also invite their own employees to exchange with our students from which we also found UM alumnus. The afternoon, we went up to the 38 th floor for a workshop with UBS , whilethey ook interviewed some of our students. The group of students then received some time to relax, get some fresh air or finger food before the last company visit: CAPCO. After a short company presentation and office visit, we could chat with the company representatives around a slice of pizza and a drink.
The last company visiting being over and our last batteries emptied, everyone returned back to the hotel for a good night or sleep before driving back to Maastricht the next morning.
We hope that all participants had a wonderful trip, enjoyed gaining insights about the banking world in Frankfurt, will now land a job there or are simply happy about the experience.
