Company description:
Canon Production Printing (CPP) has an incubator/start-up in the form of Dental. How do we organize this so that this start-up gets maximum traction by giving it access to CPP’s knowledge and tools while insulating it from the big corporate processes?
Canon Production Printing (CPP) develops and manufactures high-tech printing products and workflow software for the Commercial and Industrial printing market and is part of Canon, a global provider of imaging technologies and services. CPP operates on three continents, has approximately 3300 employees, and its global headquarters is located in Venlo, the Netherlands. Since the company’s foundation, the desire to continuously innovate has always been in its DNA.
As part of the Long-Term Plan, CPP started with a venture organization to facilitate new business growth. The venture organization should foster new ideas that scale CPP technologies into new product market combinations not covered by the current commercial and industrial print. New ideas are worked out in project teams and presented to a steering committee called “SC Incubator”. One of the first ideas currently being explored is the dental project, which aims to produce high-quality dental elements at unprecedented price levels, which makes beautiful smiles accessible for everyone.
