Hi, my name is Vincent and I am the Social Commissioner of the SCOPE Maastricht Board 2025/26. I'm 22 years old and studying Economics and Business Economics, Emerging Markets, currently between my second and third year.
If you've read my career page, you'll know that I joined SCOPE because I was lonely in Maastricht and looking for friends. What actually fixed that wasn't just joining a committee, it was the social side of SCOPE. Preuv every Tuesday, the trips, the parties, the active member events. That's where I found my people. So when I got the chance to also take on the Social Commissioner role, it felt like a natural fit. I get to be the help I needed a year ago.
As Social Commissioner I'm responsible for the social experience of all our members, from big parties open to the whole student community to small internal events just for our active members. The events I organize range from the Ski trip and Springbreak trip to Cantus nights, the Aachen Christmas market, the Graduation party, and our weekly Preuverij every Tuesday. I work closely with around 50 active members across our social committees, including Internal Members, General Members, Social Events, and our trip committees.
The highlight of my year so far has been the Active Member Weekend. Watching people arrive not really knowing each other and leave as genuine friends, that's exactly what this role is about. Those are the moments that make it all worth it.
What I love most about this position is that I get to facilitate something that actually matters. Finding your community in a new city is hard, and SCOPE's social pillar can be the thing that makes Maastricht feel like home. I get to make that happen for people, and honestly that's a pretty special thing to be responsible for.
Day to day the work is varied and creative. I'm constantly in contact with my committees, thinking about how to improve existing events or create new ones, and making sure every event has the energy and atmosphere that makes people want to come back.
If any of this sounds like something you'd want to do, reach out. I'd love to grab a coffee and tell you what the role is really like.
Get in touch at social@scope-maastricht.nl, I'd love to hear from you.
