About SCOPE

What is SCOPE?

SCOPE is the official student organisation of Maastricht University SBE. Through SCOPE, students get the opportunity to broaden their horizons by participating in workshops, social activities to meet new friends and the possibility to gain experience in a sub-professional environment by joining a committee. We welcome students from all over the world and care about keeping our community safe and inclusive, for more information on this you can check out our community guidelines and privacy policy

The possibilities are grand and the association is still growing, with many sponsors and partners, SCOPE offers students a chance to connect and network with companies and people in the (international) job market. Keep an eye out for our upcoming events and start crafting your personal journey to a great future!

Why are there different pillars?

SCOPE is structured around four distinct pillars, each serving as a foundation for categorising our events. This strategic division enables us to curate a diverse and comprehensive portfolio of events, ensuring that we cater to a broad spectrum of interests and professional development needs.

  • Career pillar
  • Academic pillar
  • Social pillar
  • Development Pillar
What is the career pillar about?

SCOPE Maastricht acts as a key link between students and their future employers by connecting them with businesses. Due to its extensive collaboration with a multitude of international and multinational enterprises, the association can provide students with a wide variety of career events and establish an exclusive recruitment platform for the benefit of all parties involved. Highlights of the career events are the semi-annual Maastricht Business Days, the biggest recruitment event in the Netherlands.

What is the academic pillar about?

We are deeply committed to providing optimal academic support for all students. In close collaboration with SBE, we organize a range of educational activities, including regular workshops, academic lectures, and other events designed to complement and enhance your academic experience.

What is the social pillar about?

As the biggest study association in Maastricht, SCOPE plays an important part in student life and hosts multiple social events and trips throughout the year. They range from complex and boat parties to a spring break and a ski trip as well as multiple internal events for our active members and general members events for our passive members.

What are SCOPE events?

SCOPE organizes a diverse set of events throughout the academic year, encompassing workshops, case challenges, career fairs, trips, and more. How do I sign up for events (as a non-member)?

Being a non-member means that you have a free account. The registration process for events is the same as for all the other memberships: login to the SCOPE site, find the event of interest & click “Register”. To finalise the registration, fill in the form.

Can I sign up for events as a passive member?

Memberships

What is the difference between a passive and active member?

Active members are engaged with the daily operations of SCOPE, thus why we call them “actives”. Actives work in small committees that are responsible for a specific element of SCOPE. For example, arranging a variety of different SCOPE events & trips. Check out the different committees.

Passive members, on the other hand, is a collective used term for all the other members (paid or unpaid membership) with a user account on SCOPE sites. These members can participate in general scope events such as parties, workshops, lectures and trips, but they play no organisational role within the association.

Additionally, SCOPE hosts multiple events throughout the year that are intended only for active members. If this sounds like something you would be interested in being part of, make sure to read more about all the different pillars and its committees on the ‘About Us’ page. Our applications for new active members are held in September and again in February, so the beginning of the new semesters at SBE. Previous work experience is no prerequisite and what we look for most is motivation and ambition to help uphold SCOPE’s reputation.
